Brian Murphy (born in Ventnor on the Isle of Wight in England, UK, September 25th, 1933) is a British comedy actor. He was probably best known for his roles in various British sitcoms, such George Roper in Thames Television's "Man About the House" and its spin-off "George & Mildred", plus Alvin Smedley in the BBC's "Last of the Summer Wine". He also regularly played Stan the children's TV show "Wizardora". He guest starred in the Sooty & Co. episode Shop-Keeping where he shook Sweep by the paw to congratulate him on becoming a millionaire in Matthew's dream. He died on 2nd February, 2025, aged 92.
