The Sloth Family are citizens of Mobius and friends of Sonic and Tails. There are four members of the family, the father, mother, sister and Rocket, who is the only one whose name is mentioned and the only one who ever speaks. The entire family is extremely slow and usually look like they are not moving at all.
History
After Sonic was zapped by Dr. Robotnik's Subatomic Slow Go Beam Weapon, the Sloth Family assisted Tails in his rescue. After the slow go weapon's power crystal broke, it worked in reverse, making individuals extra fast. Rocket accidentally used the ray on himself so Tails used it on the family so they would be fast enough to defeat Scratch and Grounder allowing Tails to save Sonic.[1]
Although the sloth family never officially made another appearance, their designs were often individually re-used as nameless background characters.
