— Octobot, Tails #1

Octobot is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is a blue octopus Badnik with eight drill-like tentacles. He is one of Dr. Robotnik's underbosses.

History

Past

Following the defeat of Jaws, Octobot was sent by Dr. Robotnik to guard the underwater Roboticization factory, and continue capturing innocent creatures for the Roboticizer.

Encounters with the Freedom Fighters

Octobot

Having heard about Octobot's ruthlessness, Tails found the underwater factory in his Sea Fox. Octobot attempted to stop him, but Tails stunned him and quickly destroyed the submerged base, leaving Octobot a complete laughingstock among the bot community.[1]

However, what Tails did not know was that Octobot wanted revenge—and while on a mission to prove himself in Downunda, Octobot scuttled the Sea Fox by puncturing it with his drill tentacles and dragged Tails beneath the ocean in an attempt to drown him. Tails was rescued by the Forty Fathom Freedom Fighters, a group of underwater Freedom Fighters, and was later saved, while Octobot was crushed beneath the massive weight of their largest member, Fluke the Blue Whale. Octobot survived the incident, though was somewhat flattened.[2]

He later reappeared, fleeing the only undersea villain more fearsome than himself: Eel Capone, the undersea gangster.[3]

Recovery and merging

Much later, Dr. Robotnik recovered Octobot, and merged him with Crocbot to form Croctobot.[4]

Personality

Octobot hates Tails with a passion almost as strong as Crocbot and would also gladly kill him for virtually ruining his many plans. Like many of Robotnik's sentient creations, he is highly volatile. Octobot's assignment has naturally affected his behavior, from sailor jargon to mentions of Davy Jones' locker.
