Cregal

Cregal is a character that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its spin-offs published by Archie Comics. It is one of the four surviving Dark Arms hatchlings.

History

Past

Cregal was originally created by Eclipse the Darkling as the future and stronger generation of the Black Arms. While still a larvae in an egg, Cregal and its kind were taken to Sonic's World on-board New Black Comet so they could feed on and grow stronger on the local life.

Shattered World Crisis

Act One

When the New Black Comet was about to be obliterated by Team Dark and the Spider Troupe however, Cregal and the Dark Arms' eggs were loaded onto an escape shuttle with Eclipse and send down to Sonic's World so the complete extinction of the Black Arms race could be prevented.^[1]

The shuttle eventually crashed in the Red Mountain Zone on Angel Island, where Cregal was one of the few Dark Arms surviving the landing, along with Blurk, Cyzer, and Rhygenta. After being found, Cregal was tamed and raised by Eclipse, who swore vengeance at Shadow for killing the Black Arms and Dark Arms. Following some days of nurturing, Eclipse left Cregal and the others to find a better source of power to make the Dark Arms stronger.^[2]

Appearance

Cregal is a Dark Arms hatchling colored black with three crimson eyes and a red-glowing mouth. Its appearance is reminiscent to a shrunken-eagle.

Personality

Cregal is a fierce Dark Arms hatchling with bad manners who fights against its sibling, Cyzer, for food.^[2]

Trivia

• Cregal's name is a portmanteau of its secondary color, "crimson", and its appearance shape, an "eagle".
• Cregal's design, like most Dark Arms hatchlings, is reminiscent to one of the Wisps, specifically the Crimson Wisp.
