In the present day, Sonic and Tails waited for the delivery of the latest issue of Crack Ups, which included a parody of Dr. Ivo Robotnik, and a poster of Sonic. After purchasing the issue, the heroes began to read it and judge its poster of Sonic. At the same time, Scratch and Grounder got a copy of Crack Ups as well, which they found highly amusing. Robotnik, however, got furious when he saw the comic's portrayal of him and thus ordered the arrest of Sketch Lampoon, the writer of the comic. Later, while Sonic was sitting in his cell in Robotnik's Rot-Your-Life-Away Dungeons, he noticed Scratch and Grounder arguing over their copy of Crack Ups. Figuring out a way to trick the robots, Sonic pulled out his own copy of Crack Ups and pretended that it was the next month's issue. Deceived, Scratch and Grounder entered Sonic's cell. As they read the comic however, they realized it was not new at all. As they demanded an explanation, Scratch saw Sonic attach his poster to Grounder's back, thereby activating the prison's security systems (which were programmed to target the color blue). Scratch and Grounder were subsequently damaged by the security system while Sonic's cell was demolished, thereby freeing him.[1]
