Autumn Forest Zone

Autumn Forest Zone^[1] is a location that appears in the Sonic the Hedgehog series. It is an autumn-inspired Zone that's located on Earth.

Concept and creation

Autumn Forest Zone is named after one of the four seasons, with this Zone using the autumn season as its inspiration.

Description

Autumn Forest Zone is heavily indicative of the season its based on: a vast, dense forest, with towering orange-leafed redwood trees surrounding the landscape. The Zone features amber soil patterned with the shapes of rings and spots. Much of the Zone's yellow grass is covered by a thick layer of fallen leaves, which form loops that fall apart when ran through, similar to the sand loops found in Mirage Saloon Zone. Acorn-based Badniks known as Helicorns, as well as scarecrows resembling Doctor Eggman's future persona, Mr. Tinker, are scattered throughout the Zone.^[1]

History

Seasons of Chaos

As Sonic, Tails and Knuckles continued their chase to find Fang, Bean and Bark after their brawl at Summer Falls Zone, they lost sight of the hooligans during their travel. As Tails pondered why Eggman would feel the need to hire mercenaries when both Metal Sonic and Metal Knuckles were out gathering the Emeralds for him as well, Knuckles spotted Eggman, holding a device as he attempted to chase down Metal Sonic. Sonic knocked the device away from Eggman, which prompted Eggman to activate a pair of buzz saw arms in his Egg Mobile to fight back. However, the heroic trio were quick to subdue the doctor. However, Metal Sonic ran away despite his master's defeat, leading Sonic to wonder what was happening.^[1]

Elsewhere in the Zone, Amy, Mighty and Ray found and obtained the purple Chaos Emerald, which was stuck in a hole on top of a tree, before being confronted by Fang, Bean and Bark. Fang threatened Mighty into giving him the Emerald in exchange for their safety, but Mighty intimidated the mercenaries by giving them a chance to back off. Bark and Bean were then sent to get the Emerald per Fang's orders, and a brawl ensued between the two parties, as Ray avoided Bean's bombs, Mighty took no damage from Fang's popgun and a one-sided battle between Amy and Bark occurred. Eventually, the fight dispersed as Metal Knuckles arrived and took the Chaos Emerald, flying away as the two parties merged and found Sonic and company with Eggman. The doctor then explained that Heavy King had taken control of Eggman's base in Winter Caverns Zone, as well as Eggman's robots, Metal Sonic, Metal Knuckles, and Tails Doll. All three of the trios then decide to team up together to stop Heavy King from using the power of the Chaos Emeralds, with them heading towards Winter Caverns Zone for the final battle.^[1]
