Monk is an American police procedural comedy-drama detective mystery television series that originally aired on the USA Network from July 12, 2002, to December 4, 2009, with 125 episodes broadcast over eight seasons. It follows Adrian Monk, a private detective with obsessive–compulsive disorder and multiple phobias, along with his assistants, Sharona Fleming and Natalie Teeger. Monk works with the San Francisco Police Department to solve unconventional cases while investigating his wife's unsolved murder. The show also explores the characters' personal lives and struggles.
Snoop Dogg appeared as a guest star in the episode "Mr. Monk and the Rapper," portraying the character Murderuss / Russell Kroy. His character is accused of murdering his rival rapper, Xtra Large, in a car bombing. Murderuss turns to Monk for help in clearing his name. At Xtra's tribute concert, Monk identifies the killer as Manslaughter Records' executive, Denny Hodges. However, Monk is booed until Murderuss takes the stage to summarize the events through rap. Hodges is eventually arrested.
