Dolores/Story

The King of Fighters series

Past

Dolores was revered hermit who lived in the Hinterlands of Africa. She had psychic medium capabilities that allowed her to contact the spirits of the earth, and she uses holy soil to combat her foes. One day, she met a boy named Kukri by chance, and offered him to be her pupil, to which he accepted. He taught him all that she knew, including about Amplified Specters; something that Kukri didn't believe for a long period of his life.

Seven years later, Kukri awakened to his sand powers, but was unable to control them, causing a massive sandstorm and robbing moisture from its surroundings. Dolores was in town at the time, and by the time she'd returned, Kukri's power could no longer be contained. She arrived to help and save him, at the cost of her own life. Kukri would live the rest of his life filled with hate and regret of that day.

Shun'ei Saga

The King of Fighters XIV

Verse's defeat during the events of The King of Fighters XIV had released numerous souls and has caused many who have perished throughout the series to be brought back to life. Apparently, Dolores was revived as a result of this incident.

Kukri cooperated with Elisabeth Blanctorche in hopes of finding her but ended up finding Ash Crimson instead, much to his distain.

The King of Fighters XV

Sometime before the fifteenth tournament, Dolores met Heidern. The two are undergoing a search for Isla, a young girl who happens to have similar powers to Shun'ei; who in turn has similar powers to Verse. After a search through an orphanage, the two find Isla during her graffiti run. The two request Isla to join their team for the upcoming KOF tournament.

Isla initially declined, until Heidern mentioned Shun'ei and his powers. Interested in the mysteries of her powers, her desire to "smack down" Shun'ei, and winning KOF will earn her tons of cash and fame, Isla agrees, but only with one special request of her own; that she'll be the team's leader.[1]

Dolores is also the keeper of the so-called Sage's eye, which Luong and Hein seeks to empower themselves in a plot against Geese Howard. For unexplained reasons, Luong manages to obtain a fake of the jewel, which Blue Mary is aware of.

Dolores eventually encounters her adoptive son Kukri, who was seeking every way to bring her back to life. After the tournament, and bidding her farewells to her team mates, the mother-figure-and-son returns to their village, just like the old times.
