The King of Fighters XIV
Several years after the events of the previous tournament, a confident billionaire named Antonov buys the rights to The King of Fighters tournament, over the strong objections of the board members of his company, the Antonov Corporation.
Proclaiming himself as the “first champion”, he eagerly host a new tournament and sends out invites across the world, challenging teams to take his title.
As per usual for a KOF tournament, all of the teams fought with all their strength, culminating with the Team Japan reaching the finals, which was a final confrontation with the "first" champion, Antonov. Team Japan easily beats him, making them winners of The King of Fighters XIV, the first time since their last victory in the '97 tournament.
However, mere moments after beating Antonov, a mysterious entity named Verse appeared, destroying the stadium. Antonov takes a blast from Verse while protecting a nearby kid named Misha. Shun'ei defeated Verse, but upon defeat, it exploded and released an omnimous mist across the world. With Verse's defeat, The King of Fighters tournament ends.
In the South America Team ending, he uses his wealth to buy land to help Zarina protect her pet, Coco. In his own ending, Antonov successfully defends his title of champion, but his executive director, Yakov, informs him that the public suspects the entire tournament was a set-up. Company board members barge in to condemn Antonov's failure to maintain the tournament's reputability; the backlash causing loss in company stocks and mass media scandals. They schedule for an emergency meeting tomorrow, but Antonov decides to skip out the night before.
The King of Fighters XV
After facing countless expensive lawsuits, Antonov is forced to resign as CEO of the Antonov Corporation. Now an ex-millionaire and self-proclaimed "first champion of KOF", Antonov and Yakov are forced to wander the freezing streets of Moscow. However, he runs into Misha and his family by chance, and helps them.
Some time after this, and prior to the fifteenth tournament he gets a new lease on life after starting up a professional wrestling team. He asks both Ramón and King of Dinosaurs to join his new team, Team Galaxy Antonov Wrestling (Team G.A.W. for short), with the ultimate goal to reclaim his rightful title as the first champion of KOF.[1]
