The reason given is: The segments involving Malibu Stacy, mermaids, and "Mamma-At-Law!" are a bit outlandish. However, Michael Price claims that the other segments can be considered canon.[1]

Women in Shorts (formerly titled as "Ladies Night") is the sixth episode of Season 36, being the 774th episode overall. It originally aired on November 10, 2024. The episode was written by Christine Nangle and directed by Eric Koenig. It features guest stars Ruth Reichl as herself and Kerry Washington as Rayshelle Peyton.

Synopsis

"Girls just want to have funny" in this episode featuring short stories about the women of Springfield.

Plot

Luann's Problem

Luann is excited for Book Club while drinking wine. However, she is told by Marge, Kumiko, Lindsey, and the other women that she a wine problem; she is obsessed with wine products such as pillows, shirts and even clocks. Luann explains that this is her thing, but after seeing how her obsession resulted in somebody's injury, she decides to find a new thing: she realizes how attractive she is, and presents herself as a "MILF".

Malibu Stacy: The "Movie"

In Malibu Stacy Land, Malibu Stacy decides to leave her world and travel to the real world to find the little girl who loves her the most. Upon arriving in Springfield Elementary School, Lisa thinks that Malibu Stacy came to see her (since she's known to have a collection of her dolls), but Malibu Stacy walks right past her. She instead encounters Shauna Chalmers, who didn't recognize her at first. After being told that Shauna loves Malibu Stacy, Shauna decides to beat her up in order to prove that she doesn't play with dolls. However, under her breath, she said she does like Malibu Stacy and wants to hang out with her later in the afternoon. She continues beating up Malibu Stacy, eventually kicking her head off and throwing it in the road. Smithers, a fellow Malibu Stacy fan, sees her head and screams.

Once Upon a Stripper

When Nelson is being put to bed by his mother, she tells him a bedtime story titled "The Kingdom of the Classy Ladies". In the story is a woman name Muntzeea, who was very popular with the men in Lord Tracksuit Manor, due to her being a great dancer. However, she has a rival named Raylee, who stole her dance moves. In order to get back at her, Muntzeea threw her shoes at her. Because the owner was fair and liked older women, he decides to put Raylee in the morning shift, where most of the men are sleeping from the night before. Nelson inserts his own character into the story, who treats Muntzeea to lunch. Back in real life, Nelson and his mother share a hug.

Pharmacy: The Musical

When at the pharmacy ready to check out, Marge realizes that she forgot to buy tampons. She asks Homer to get a box for her, but he refuses because he is embarrassed about other male customers seeing him. He insists that Marge go get the box, but then the cashier and pharmacy employees break out in song. They sing about how Marge feels the same way when she has to buy ridiculous items for Homer. After being ashamed, Homer finally gives in and is directed towards the tampons.

Smoke on the Sisters

Patty and Selma learn that their favorite cigarette brand Laramie Cigarettes won't be arriving in Springfield for a few months. They are worried about not having any more, and the idea of sharing their stash is passed around. However, they both mention that they have no more cigarettes. The sisters then run around finding each others' secret stashes of cigarettes (it is revealed that they have entire crates and piles, and ironically have nothing to worry about). They are exhausted from running around, and their heart monitors go up.

Roleplaying Date Night

Dr. Hibbert arrives at a restaurant for date night with his wife Bernice, who reminds him that they are role-playing as strangers to spice up their marriage. Bernice is good at roleplaying, but Dr. Hibbert isn't at first, as he messes up their names. However, a man starts choking: Dr. Hibbert wants to help, but Bernice insists that he stay in character, which upsets him because the man could die. Kirk tries to help the man by saying he is a French Neurogen, but Luann tells him that he is only roleplaying; if he can stay in character, then they can sleep together. Lindsey Naegle shows up, and it seems like she is making a commercial about roleplaying, only for it to be revealed that she is here to find a man as well. She meets Disco Stu, roleplaying as a fireman.

Mamma-at-Law!

When Luigi Risotto is arrested for hiding diamonds in his cheese, His mother (who became an attorney via revealed in the theme song) comes to defend him. When it seemed like Luigi was going to lose, Mama Risotto managed to save her son (by slapping the juries around and giving them some food), and he is declared not guilty.

The Soul of a Chef: Lunchlady Dora

Lunchlady Dora begins her day narrating how she tried to make a good lunch for the students at Springfield Elementary. Her first stop is at the Farmer's Market, where she takes a bunch of rotten cabbage from a barrel and prepares lunch. However, Ruth Reichl understands that the food she prepared wouldn't even be eatable, nor legal to serve. However, she doesn't care because she still loves this job: it allows her to drink vodka and clock out at 2 PM.

The Chronicles of Narnia

At the Simpsons' House, Lisa falls asleep after reading the book "The Chronicles of Narnia". She dreams of being a queen in Narnia, where the citizens seek her guidance. She suggests improving the kingdom's roadways, and upon being queried about the finances, she resolves to impose a tax of one gold piece for each spell cast. This results in the witches protesting, while others advocate for the improvements. In response, the furious citizens begin to cast spells at her, which leads to her waking up and being upset that she can't even have fun in her dreams.

Agnes' Story

After 50 years of fighting with a lady named Janice who had passed away, Agnes records a video (similar to one that somebody would record for a dating profile), talking about how she wants a new rival.

Helen Lovejoy's Story

In church, Helen Lovejoy is filling bottles of wine when an emergency alert goes off on the radio: an incoming massive tsunami approaching the town. With only ten minutes to live, she does everything she ever wanted to do: she drinks the rest of the wine, takes her bra out, leaves the church, and punch Ned Flanders in the face. She then heads to Moe's Tavern to kiss Moe, only to slap him afterward. When she gets home, she destroys her husband's model train setup. Another emergency alert goes off, where it is revealed that this was simply an ad for a Costington's sale. Helen now feels a bit awkward.

Ms. Peyton's Story

At Springfield Elementary School, the teachers are betting on which students get injured, or get in trouble, on the playground. However, Ms. Peyton seems to be against this, and she scolds the others. However, this is until Lisa gets in trouble for raising her middle fingers; Ms. Peyton actually did bet on her, and she happily collects her money. In the hallway, she gives half Lisa.

Ending & Epilogue

Lisa uses her share of the money to buy a jazz album at Vinyl Fantasy. As she rides her bike across town, she passes by the other women, who all make references to each of their stories.

In an epilogue scene, set one year and nine months earlier, Marge and Homer are up late watching TV. She tells Homer how Jake from State Farm turns her on. They both decide to go upstairs and have some fun, with this being how Maggie was conceived.
