Steve Sax was a second baseman for the Los Angeles Dodgers (1981–1988), the New York Yankees (1989–1991), the Chicago White Sox (1992–1993), and the Oakland Athletics (1994). He played himself in the episode Homer at the Bat. In it, he was one of nine baseball players used in Charles Montgomery Burns's baseball team so he could win a bet he made with Aristotle Amadopolis. Steve Sax ended up in jail and facing six life sentences in the episode after Eddie and Lou made the idiotic assumption he was responsible for every murder that's ever happened in New York just because he was from New York.
Prior to being employed by Mr. Burns, he is shown playing upright bass in a band called the Steve Sax Trio.
