Itchy

Itchy is the cartoon mouse from Itchy & Scratchy. He is a serial killer whose favorite victim is Scratchy. He almost always succeeds in killing Scratchy. It seems that there is only one episode where Scratchy defeats him.

History

Itchy first appeared in "Itchy the Lucky Mouse in Manhattan Madness", in which only Itchy appears, without Scratchy, and Itchy kills an Irish man and Teddy Roosevelt. This was the very first of many episodes where he would appear.^[1]

His ears resemble Mickey Mouse's, his name is like Oswald the Lucky Rabbit's and he plays the role of Jerry from Tom and Jerry. In a parody of the view of Jerry as a villain, Itchy is depicted as a serial killer torturing and killing the innocent Scratchy, contrasting Jerry's mutual slapstick relationship with Tom(Tom is usually antagonized by Jerry simply because he picked on him first

).

Itchy & Scratchy Land is an Itchy and Scratchy theme park. It has parades with robots resembling Itchy and Scratchy which are intended to only attack each other.. While on vacation, the Simpsons were attacked by a group of robots when they went berserk until the family realized that flash photography can damage them by scrambling their circuits.^[2] It is implied that flash photography is prohibited on the park for this reason.^{[3] [4]}

Itchy and Scratchy also appear in The Simpsons Movie, in a short film that the Simpsons are watching in the movie theater before the actual movie begins. He kills Scratchy by filling a bunch of rockets in his mouth and then explodes him to pieces.^[5]

Along with Scratchy, he may be a resident of Springfield as seen in "Hello Gutter, Hello Fadder," as they appear together as guests on The Springfield Squares,^[6] as well as a deleted scene in "Day of the Jackanapes".

"Burning Down the Mouse," seen in "Homer Goes to College," has Scratchy kill Itchy using explosives, grenades and a nuke, though whether or not it succeeded isn't explicitly clear as Benjamin unplugs the television just before the dynamite goes off, with the short only airing once altogether.^[7][8]

Itchy, along with Scratchy have also appeared in The Simpsons Ride where they host a safety video that shows the ride rules that the riders must follow.^[9]

Although it's never indicated that Itchy has a wife beyond some episodes showing him with a son, Krusty when being forced to narrate a cartoon due to cutbacks at Channel 6 by the FCC indicated that Itchy did indeed have a wife and speculated that the reason why Itchy antagonized Scratchy (or at the very least did the stunt of blowing Scratchy up with a female cat-shaped set of explosives in that short) was because the latter was messing with Itchy's wife beforehand.
