Ruth Payne

Ruth Payne is the mother of Behzinga. She works as a hairdresser and lives in Romford, Essex.^[1] After Ethan’s biological dad left when he was conceived, she got married to Ethan's step father.^[2] She has chronic urticaria.^[3]

How To Be Behzinga

Ruth was featured throughout Ethan's documentary How To Be Behzinga. Ethan describes his relationship with his mum as "an unbreakable bond" and that they "go through everything together and always have done". In the first episode, she discusses raising Ethan. Ethan tells that his real dad disappeared when he was conceived, leaving Ruth to have Ethan alone.

When Ethan was six months old, she met his "fake dad" or step father, who was in their lives till Ethan was thirteen. Ethan says that their relationship went downhill due to drug addiction and debt, and that his step father went to the shop one day and did not come back. This lead to their divorce, which resulted in Ethan finding out that he was not his biological father.

Ethan also tells that during this time, his mum had cancer. Ruth described it as terrifying, and that she had to find somewhere for them to live and get back on their feet, which affected Ethan at school.
