An ogre is a mythical beast and the species of Shrek and Fiona. They are feared and vilified around the world due to misconceptions about their nature, portraying them as man-eating beasts.
Behavior
Intelligence
The ogres are considerably intelligent, compared to their mythological counterparts, where they were portrayed as being very dimwitted and unintelligent. Ogres are seen to be moderately tamable, as such when Shrek calms down and starts his own family with his wife Fiona. In a time of danger, ogres are seen to be witty and tactical- especially when in a large group, where they remain cooperative and agree on a set plan.
Familial/Living Habits
Most ogres live in swamps and lagoons, although some have seen temporary refuge in forests.
As referenced by King Harold and even claimed by Shrek himself, ogres have a penchant for devouring their children. How this affects their relationship with their parents when they are grown is unknown.
Appearance
Ogres are very large, tall and fearsome humanoid beasts. The most well known ogres, Shrek and Fiona, are almost twice the size of their human counterparts. They are however small in comparison to other ogres, as Shrek is almost dwarfed by every other ogre in the ogre resistance camp. With this evidence, ogres are extremely large compared to average humans, often reaching eight feet in height. Ogres have green skin and tube-like ears that they can use as a trumpet by clasping their nose and trying to send air through it. This is seen on all ogres. Ogres have unusual eating and grooming when compared to humans. Most find each others' ways strange at best and repulsive at worst as Ogres are known to eat live insects, snakes, or uncooked vegetables (onions in particular). Ogres (particularly males) care little for how they dress, and will only wear things comfortable to them. Only female ogres have hair, as this applies to both Fiona and Felicia.
Abilities
Ogres are well-known for their monstrous strength as Shrek can easily spin and throw a fully armored human knight like ragdolls. They are strong enough to momently restrain a fully grown dragon, as well as survive near-direct contact with intense flames. As a defense, ogres can perform a loud roar, which is used to scare away trespassers. Contrary to Shrek's own claims, the roar isn't always used when an ogre is angry.
They are also extremely skilled in survival and improvising- with many being able to build homes and furniture from purely natural materials. In addition, ogres can create melee weapons and armor which aids them in further self-defense; although Shrek himself never resorted to creating such items. Although Shrek has shown to be quick-witted with attacks- as proven with him seeing the Gingerbread Man next to the Far Far Away castle and getting the idea to create Mongo.
