Blast (heruburasuto, or Hellblast, in Japanese) is a wind-based attack spell used the the Shining series games, first introduced in Shining in the Darkness and brought back in Shining Force II.

Shining Force II

Blast is a wind-based elemental attack spell cast during battles in the Shining series games. Each level has a different look as the spell gets stronger:

  • Level 1 - a tornado hits the enemy
  • Level 2 - a barrage of wind boomerangs hit the enemy
  • Level 3 - a tornado and a barrage of boomerangs hit the enemy
  • Level 4 - a larger tornado and a barrage of boomerangs hit the enemy

Strategy

Blast is the weakest elemental spell in the game. However, it is the only attack spell the healers have and is best used in the early game to level up quicker. When promoted, their roles are strictly healing (Vicars) or a mix of physical offense and healing (Master Monks), making this spell less useful in the later run.

Trivia

  • Blast is called Hellblast in some other Shining series games. Possibly changed for American consumers due to the use of the word "Hell".
  • Blast is the only elemental spell that is not used by Mages or Wizards.
  • Blast is the only elemental spell that has a 1 range.
