Gilder is a major character in Skies of Arcadia.

History
Gilder's ship, the Claudia, is first waved down by Vyse after the boy becomes stranded. Whilst Gilder himself is sleeping, his crew rescue Vyse and tell him to wake up. Gilder, upon hearing of Vyse's stranding declares him lucky as he was only stranded for two weeks, but comments that without female company if he was stranded for two weeks he wouldn't make it either.
Vyse thanks Gilder for the rescue, and after introducing himself, the ship and his pet parrot, Willy(referring to him as a 'beast'), Gilder invites Vyse to tell him of his adventures, immedietly taking a shining to him and seeing him as a younger brother.

- Despite Gilder fleeing from Clara whenever she pursues him, the two are actually civil when in the same room.
- Gilder's ship, the Claudia, is equipped with 19 cannons, but despite this it's battle capabilities are never tested in in game air battles.
- Gilder declares Aika and Fina two of the most beautiful women in all of Arcadia and showcases jealousy towards Vyse for getting to travel with them.
- Gilder is one of the three party members that the player can choose from for the finale battle, the other two being Drachma and Enrique.
