Ghost House is a 1986 platformer title released on the Master System.
Plot
Mick is a young vampire hunter who has stumbled across the Ghost House whilst attempting to obtain his families jewels.
Unfortunately for Mick the mansion is absolutely infested with bats, mummies, fire blowers and deadly vampires who will stop at nothing to put a stop to his exploration of their home.
Mick, undeterred discovers that the mansion itself has many useful traps and tricks that he can use against these unholy abominations allowing him to grab the treasures, kill the vampires and clear the mansion out.
Gameplay
Mick starts with three lives, receiving an additional life for every 50,000 and 150,000 points he accumulates.
Mick starts off by having only his fists to defend himself, from the creepy creatures of the mansion, but he can obtain a longer range sword weapon. Apart from this he can duck, jump and walk.
The mansion itself can be interacted with, allowing Mick to set off traps.
- Walking in front of a fireplace will cause arrows and swords to shoot from both directions of the screen horizontally towards him. If Mick times it right and leaps atop the sword, he will obtain it giving him a better ranged weapon with which to fight the vampires.
- If Mick jumps on 25 of the aforementioned arrows he will become temporarily invincible.
- Jumping and touching a light will cause enemies on the screen to temporarily freeze, allowing Mick to dish out some free hits.
- Some portraits can be used as portals to other areas.
Mick must punch/stab his way through the monsters of the mansion in order to find a hidden key which will unlock the coffin to the vampire he must slay. Vampires will transform between their bat and Dracula forms, and so the player must carefully consider their approach when dealing with them.
Slaying a vampire or collecting jewels will restore Mick's health. whilst being touched by a monster will of course drain his energy.
