Vince Vaughn is an American actor, comedian, screenwriter and producer mentioned through an Easter egg in Scream (2022 film).
In his wide catalogue, he has appeared in many films, including the Psycho (1998) remake as Norman Bates.
In the Scream universe, it is mentioned he portrayed serial killer, Stu Macher, in the original Stab (1998; incorrectly stated as 1997) film, derived from the eight-part Stab franchise.
The film was adapted from a Gale Weathers best-seller novel, The Woodsboro Murders (1997) from the "real life" original Woodsboro Murders that largely occurred in 1996.
Behind the Scenes
- Stu can actually be seen in a scene in Scream (2022) with Christopher Speed as Randy Meeks delivering the rules, and the actor appears to be a stand-in for Vaughn, a likely continuity error.
- It is possible, in-universe, the actor is not supposed to be Stu (despite wearing the same clothes in the original scene) or it can be a stand-in continuity error for the actual Stab film.
- This is similar to Wes Craven recreating his own continuity error with Casey Becker's death for Stab intentionally.

- While in the Scream universe, he portrayed Stu Macher, Vaughn also later starred in the American supernatural slasher comedy, Freaky (2020) as the Blissfield Butcher and Millie Kessler (played by Kathryn Newton) when they switch bodies, alluding to playing roles of masked killers.
- Kathryn Newton would later co-star alongside Melissa Barrera in the 2024 American vampire horror film, Abigail.
- The aforementioned movie is a spin on Freaky Friday, which in turn in the 2003 film of the same name, starred both Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan (with the former being mentioned throughout the franchise for her role as Laurie Strode in the Halloween franchise, of which is referenced across the Scream franchise).
- He starred as Norman Bates in the 1998 American horror film, Psycho, which was a remake of the 1960 film of the same name by horror director, Alfred Hitchcock, which had starred Anthony Perkins (actor, not to be confused with the character of the same name from Scream 4), which the original 1960 film has also been referenced throughout the the franchise.
- Within the Scream franchise, Vince Vaughn has his actor's nomenclature and first and last name, are referenced in two characters (a reference in itself to Scream 3, and character names from that film, deriving from actual actors first and last names) starting with:
- Zoë Vaughn (from Season 2 of the TV series, 2016).
- Vince Schneider (from Scream (2022), who's more closely correlated as he is the actual nephew of Stu Macher, who Vaughn had portrayed).
