Biography

The Hollywood Murders (2000)

He is a cynical and sarcastic police officer assigned to the Stab 3: Return to Woodsboro murder investigation along with Mark Kincaid. His partner, Mark, embraces Gale Weathers’ help where he continually shuns her and her help to her annoyance.

He is present when one of the producers for the movie, John Milton, asks about Cotton Weary’s death being related to the movie. Detective Wallace bluntly says, “He was making a movie called Stab. He was stabbed.”

When Dewey Riley and Mark begin to argue in Mark’s office regarding the case, Dewey initially refuses to give him information on Sidney Prescott until Detective Wallace comes in and says to Dewey, "What the hell is your problem? Last night you were almost charcoal." Dewey decides to call Sidney afterwards.

As he leaves, he chastised Mark about his interest in Sidney stating that he knows he is going to get her candy and flowers. Only for Mark to reply, “Give me a break.”

He is present to investigate Sidney’s attack on the set of Stab 3. He is seen interviewing and questioning Angelina Tyler and Tyson Fox. He asks Angelina about the Ghostface mask she had in her hands. She nonchalantly says she stole it. She rephrased saying she “took it”. He asks for clarification, “you took the mask or stole the mask?” She clarifies that she took it like a souvenir. He looks at Tyson for clarification only for him to say defensively as he is an African American man not wanting to deal with officers, “Don’t look at me. I didn’t take sh*t.”

He and Mark take Sidney down to the station to keep watch over her as they believe she was attacked and Ghostface is watching her.

Quotes

  • "Well in that case, I'm gonna go dust for fingerprints with Jane Pauley."
  • "Ten more murders and we can publish a calendar."
  • "What the hell is your problem? Last night you were almost charcoal."

Trivia

  • He was described as "Kincaid's cohort and partner. He's in his late thirties. Family man" in the script.
  • A deleted scene was filmed paralleling the cops coming onto the scene of the final confrontations of Scream and Scream 2 in which Wallace is surprised at all the chaos, but was deemed superfluous with the scene following at Sidney's home.
  • Wallace's first name is never mentioned throughout the film. However, on his desk at the police station and on the bullet proof vest that Sidney wore to John Milton's mansion, the text "Det. J. Wallace" can be seen, which means that his first name at least begins with the letter "J", it is most likely that his first name is "Joshua", which would be a reference to the actor who portrays Wallace (Josh Pais).
