"Cinder vs. Rhodes" is a battle that occurred in "Midnight", where Rhodes confronts Cinder Fall after she killed her adoptive family.
Preceding Events
Several years prior, Rhodes begins training Cinder for the Huntsman Academy examination so she can not only fulfill her dream of becoming a Huntress, but also legally leave the care of her abusive adoptive family. After a few years, Rhodes gives her one of his swords to keep.
Cinder's stepsisters find the sword and tell the Madame. They attempt to take the sword off her and Madame electrocutes her with the collar on her neck as punishment, driving Cinder over the edge and leading her to murder them.
Rhodes, having just arrived at the Glass Unicorn, catches Cinder in the act, having already murdered her stepsisters and grabbing the Madame by the neck. As the Madame repeatedly attempts to electrocute Cinder, Cinder mockingly thanks the Madame before snapping her neck. Seeing her mentor, Cinder tries to reassure him, only to be told that running is all she will ever do. Rhodes then draws his maces and attempts to arrest Cinder.
The Fight
Cinder, feeling betrayed, fights her mentor using all she learned. Rhodes uses his Semblance to block her attacks, only for Cinder uses her own Semblance to counter it by superheating Rhodes' skin. Using a bag of sand, Cinder creates a smokescreen, which allows her to take a second sword from Rhodes' hip.
Cinder slashes at Rhodes, breaking his Aura, as he kicks her into some boxes, breaking her Aura. With the battle seemingly over, a tired Rhodes drops his maces and walks to the seemingly unconscious Cinder, who quickly stabs him with the swords he gave her. Rhodes pats her head like he did years ago and smiles before collapsing and succumbing to his injuries.
Aftermath
Cinder, now no longer bound to her abusive stepfamily, rips off her collar while revealing her scar around her neck and looks at the Moon as she sheds a tear.
