Positron Gun is the term used to describe the main cannon fire from Positron Cannons mounted on large scale dreadnoughts in the R-Type Series. The "Positron Gun" is also an attack specific to the UFBS-010 Heimdall's Positron Cannon, the Burtgang Cannon. These weapons are known as the most fearsome and devastating in the universe, having the ability to destroy units, squadrons, cruisers, and even cities from long range in a single blast. They can also charge remarkably fast, often taking no longer than 3 turns to reach full firing capacity. The Positron Gun deals 183 base damage and deals 216 damage when at ace level. Its maximum range in R-Type Command and R-Type Tactics II: Operation Bitter Chocolate, is 7 hexes/tiles.
Variations
All of the Heimdall variants, which are the UFBS-011 Tyr, UFBS-AE1 Jotunheim, UFBS-AE2 Muspellheim, and the UFBS-AE3 Niflheim posses attacks similar to the standard Positron Gun.
The Tyr, from its Gleipnir Positron Cannon uses the +Ion Gun 2. It deals significantly more damage than the standard Positron Gun, and takes the same amount of time to charge. The amount of damage dealt by +Ion Gun 2 at base level is 202, and is 238 when at ace level.
The Jotunheim's positron gun is the +Ion Gun V2. It deals 238 base damage and 282 at ace level.
The Muspellheim's positron gun is the Muspell Cannon, +Ion Gun V3. It deals 257 base damage and 304 at ace level.
The Niflheim's positron gun is the Ginnungagap Positron Cannon, +Ion Gun V4 . It deals 275 base damage and 326 at ace level. It is the strongest cannon the Space Corps has ever created, surpassing the damage capabilities of the UFXSS-01 Utgarda Loki.
The B-BS-Cnb Kombiler possesses a Positron Cannon of its own, the Fragrach Beam, fired from the Fragrach Positron Cannon. It shares the same damage values as the original Burtgang Cannon mounted on the Heimdall.
