An opal is an item obtained by breaking its respective rock or by defeating magma blobs and magma golems. It is used to craft various opal tools.
Obtaining
Natural generation
Opal rocks naturally generate throughout the Underworld. Mining an opal rock yields 1 - 2 opals after each stage and 8 Mining XP (15 with the 4x daily bonus), resulting in a total of 2 - 4 opals and 16 Mining XP (30 with the 4x daily bonus) per rock. 1 - 5 underworld tokens will also be rewarded after mining the entire rock.
Mob drop
Magma blobs and magma golems have a 10% chance of dropping an opal upon defeat.
Dragon eggs
Opening an infernal dragon egg has a 23% chance of rewarding 10 - 50 opals, having a rarity of 'common'.
