Description
Hubris often indicates a loss of contact with reality and an overestimation of one's own capabilities, especially when the person is in a position of power. According to Annabeth, it is a Fatal Flaw shared by many demigod children of Athena.

Annabeth Chase reveals to Percy Jackson while passing the Siren's music that her fatal flaw is hubris and that she thinks that she can do things better than anyone, even the gods, like she thinks she can save her family.

Annabeth shows her fatal flaw, hubris, during their encounter with the Sphinx, a monster that asks riddles in the ancient times. She refused to answer the monster's questions and refers to them as "bunch of dumb, random facts" and "a stupid test." The trivia questions were an insult on her intelligence as a child of Athena. This caused the Sphinx to attack them, as Annabeth refused to answer her.
