An Ahuizotl is a Mexica water monster with an appetite for human flesh that was thought to have died out.

Storm Runner Trilogy

Upon reaching New Mexico, Zane Obispo, Ren Santiago, Ah-Puch and Rosie find its footprint, which resembles a massive wolf paw print with long claws.

The Ahuilotl has an ugly, lopsided face and spiked fur along its spine and a lizard like tail with hand at the end to drag its victims.

The name, Ahuizotl, means "spiny aquatic thing".
They like to eat the nails, eyes, and teeth of their victims.
Ahuizotl was also the name of the emperor of the Mexica Empire before Moctezuma II.
