The Sanctuary is a location in the Amazon Rainforest, shown in Rio 2. It is located in the Amazon Rainforest and is where the Spix's Macaw Tribe lives and thrives, safe from human threats. Multiple locations of the Sanctuary were shown in Rio 2, a few notable ones being the flower curtains, which is where Roberto was first introduced, Roberto's nest, and the lake over which "Beautiful Creatures" was sung by the tribe.
Role in Rio 2
After Eduardo recognized her long-lost daughter, Jewel, and met his son-in-law, Blu, and his grandchildren, Carla, Bia and Tiago, he took them all to the Sanctuary.
There, he explained that, during years, the Spix's Macaw Tribe had had to escape from the Loggers, but after some time, they had found a sanctuary.
After this, Eduardo shouted to announce that his daughter had come back. When Mimi heard it, she rushed flying to see Jewel. After this, Mimi met Jewel's children and Blu. Then, Roberto appeared and sang a music.
Later, the Spix's Macaw Tribe celebrated Jewel's return with a music.
At the end of the film, Roberto said to Eduardo that the Loggers were approaching the sanctuary, but Blu wanted to save the sanctuary. Eduardo told everyone to leave, but Jewel said she would not do so; then, Blu appeared and gave a speech about defending their home.
