Cole Kenneth Hauser (born March 22, 1975 in Santa Barbara, California, USA) is an American film and television actor. After many unsuccessful auditions he finally got his break and was invited to fill out the first credited role for the movie School Ties (1992) which starred many young and up-and-coming actors such as Ben Affleck. A role in Richard Linklater’s Dazed and Confused came along subsequently. On the respective sets, he met plenty of fresh-faced actors and actresses, largely unknown to the public at the time. Hauser would later re-team with Affleck when they appeared together in Good Will Hunting (1997).
He starred as William J. Johns in "Pitch Black". He would reprise his role along with Vin Diesel in the video-game "Escape from Butcher Bay." In 2002, he played a racist American prisoner-of-war in Hart's War with Bruce Willis and Colin Farrell. Then in 2003, he played a Navy SEAL in Tears of the Sun alongside Bruce Willis and Nick Chinlund. He also appeared as a mob boss in 2 Fast 2 Furious. He has since had several leading roles in Hollywood films, including the Mel Gibson produced Paparazzi (2004) and the horror-thriller also focusing on a group preyed upon in the dark by blind monsters, The Cave (2005).
In 2007, he starred with Anthony Anderson in the FOX series K-Ville. The show was canceled after ten episodes. That same year, Hauser starred in The Stone Angel adapted from a novel by Margaret Laurence. The film played in various festival circles and had a limited release in Canadian theaters in May 2008. During that same year, Cole filmed other indie productions such as Like Dandelion Dust from a novel by Karen Kingsbury, Tyler Perry's The Family That Preys and the CBS television pilot The Tower.
In 2013, he appeared in the action blockbusters, A Good Day to Die Hard, alongside Bruce Willis, and Olympus Has Fallen alongside Gerard Butler, Aaron Eckhart, Morgan Freeman, and Radha Mitchell. From 2013-2017, Hauser starred in the crime television series, Rogue alongside "The Chronicles of Riddick" actress Thandiwe Newton. In 2014, he appeared in the sci-fi thriller Transcendence alongside Johnny Depp, Paul Bettany, and Morgan Freeman.
In 2018, Hauser reteamed with Bruce Willis in Acts of Violence, and Mel Gibson in Panama. From 2018-2022, he costarred alongside Kevin Costner in Yellowstone. He will be reuniting once again with Morgan Freeman in the upcoming crime thriller, Muti.
