Milius

Milius was a refugee from a farming world similar to Veldt, but one that had already gone through the feeding of the Imperium armies that decimated the planet.

They were portrayed by Elise Duffy in A Child of Fire and The Scargiver, who identified as non-binary at the time of filming. Duffy appreciated the production team's willingness to incorporate this into the character of Milius.[2] Milius is named for the writer and director of Conan the Barbarian, John Milius.[3] Though they show no signs of it in the final films, some early concept art depicted Milius as a humanoid alien.

Biography

Meadai

Milius lived in a farming community on Meadai where they farmed wheat much like the villagers of Veldt until the armies of the Motherworld one day came for their food, leaving behind a wasteland. Milius was taken along with their fellow farmers and brought to a Motherworld-operated internment labor camp.

The Bloodaxes rescue Milius

They were rescued by Darrian Bloodaxe during one of the missions of the Bloodaxe insurgents, who Milius joined, loyally following Darrian until his death at the battle at the unregistered trade depot. They continued on Darrian's path in his stead, defending the Veldtian farming village from Admiral Atticus Noble's attack on the moon.[4]

Milius v Imperium mech

During the battle, Milius fired on the oncoming Imperium troops from the window of the granary. When an Imperium mech took notice of them, they climbed down into the river beneath the building and sneaked around behind the mech, taking up a fallen rocket launcher to destroy the machine from behind. Trapped behind enemy lines, they fought off soldiers as best they could. Tarak charged in to help and managed to clear the path, but more soldiers, along with another mech, were still coming up on them from the fields. Resigning themselves to death, they prepared for their final stand, but JC-1435 arrived and took down the soldiers and the mech all on his own.

Tarak and Milius celebrate

While this was going on, Kora was taking down The King's Gaze, leaving behind a sizeable, but much more manageable enemy force. Milius' old comrades, led by Devra Bloodaxe, arrived to pick off what remained of the Imperium soldiers with their fighter ships and the battle was won. As the villagers honored the sacrifices made for them, Kora settled on her next goal against the Imperium, which Devra and Milius agreed to join.[5]

Relationships

Darrian Bloodaxe - The Scargiver

Darrian Bloodaxe was Milius's main inspiration to join the revolution and stand against the Motherworld after he saved them from a life of imprisonment in a slave colony. Darrian could always count on Milius' support.

Staz Nair as Tarak

Tarak Decimus attempted to comfort Milius after Darrian's death, and when they fought together on the battlefield, they agreed to stick together for a noble end, planning to die for Veldt.
