Sharon

Sharon (シャロン)? is a movie-exclusive character who appears in the Tropical-Rouge! Pretty Cure movie. She is the princess of the snow kingdom Shantia and also the main antagonist of the movie.

Bio

Appearance

Sharon is a girl with long curly white hair, red lips, pale skin, and red eyes with star pupils.

In her previous life, she had light pink flowers with green appendages adorned onto her braided hair. Both her shawl and dress were laced in dark red, gold, and dark blue accents, attached with a pink skirt, and white folds. Her shawl had white ruffles. Her ombré headdress and earrings were both gold with blue hearts. She also had a golden necklace with a blue spherical gem. Her heels were blue with white pearls.

Her current appearance is having her braided hair tied into twin tails with yellow ribbons. She wears a white ruffled dark red cloak with matching pink floral patterns, and gold and green embroideries. She also has a cape of both dark blue and dark yellow, a long ivory skirt, and pale blue heels.

Personality

Before her kingdom was destroyed, Sharon was happy and filled with energy. However, throughout the movie, she becomes cold, heartless, and selfish, focused solely on restoring her kingdom in the hopes that it will once again overflow with happiness. Moments before her death, though, she finally understands and rekindles a glimmer of hope, revealing that she still retains a small part of her former kindness.

Relationships

  • Laura: Sharon and Laura become friends after both bond over their royalty statuses. However, Laura is unable to condone Sharon's selfishness with turning the guests into subjects. Before Sharon passes away, she reconciles with Laura as she teaches the mermaid how to sing her kingdom's song for eternity, and thanks Laura for being her friend.

Etymology

Sharon is a Jewish name that means "a fertile plain".[1] This is linked to how Sharon herself was once from a prosperous kingdom before its destruction, and how her wish is to bring her kingdom back.

History

Wanting the kingdom to be overflowing with happiness, Sharon invites Manatsu and her friends to her coronation. Before the coronation, she befriends Laura and gives her a ring to bring her happiness after hearing about Grand Ocean's current situation.

At her coronation, Sharon gets upset when her guests try to leave the kingdom after their acts, so she freezes the kingdom and traps her guests in ice. With the Cures confronting her, Sharon reveals what happened in her past. On the day of her official coronation, Sharon was forced to hide in a bunker because a meteorite was going to destory Shantia. Sharon came out of the bunker to see the devastation, and collapsed out of sadness, where she passed away, covered in a blanket of snow. Centuries later, a mysterious power broke off from the meteorite and brought Sharon back to life. She aims to use this mysterious power to revive her kingdom and turn her invited guests into her subjects.

A few moments later, she is protected by La Mer when Blossom and Marine try to attack her, and traps the Heartcatch! team in a dungeon. Later on, Sharon is confronted by La Mer, where she tries to convince La Mer to combine their powers to save Shantia, but is rejected. Not able to control her emotions, Shantia creates a strong snow monster to defeat the Cures. But the Cures' words reach Sharon, and her frozen heart starts to melt.

With her strength dwindling, she is moved by La Mer singing Shantia's song. La Mer tells Sharon that she'll sing her kingdom's song for eternity, and learns from Blossom that her kingdom's flower, Snowdrop, is still blooming in the present day. With the stone gone, Sharon tells Laura that she's glad they met before she disappears.

Abilities

Using the meteorite stone, Sharon can shoot purple beams of light and summon powerful snow monsters to fight her enemies.

Trivia

  • She is the only character in the movie to have a Heart Flower besides the Heartcatch! characters. Her Heart Flower is Snowdrop, which means "hope" in the Language of Flowers.
  • According to Yuri, a meteorite hit Shantia 13,000 years ago. Since Sharon claims her kingdom was destroyed by a meteorite, it can be assumed that she is roughly 13,000 years old.
