Falsetto (ファルセット)? is a villain from Suite Pretty Cure♪ and a member of Trio de Minor alongside Bassdrum and Baritone. He is the main antagonist and the trio's leader from episode 37 to 44 until Noise was revived.

Bio

Appearance

Falsetto is a man with pink tousled hair. He has eye wrinkles, indicating his age. He wears a dark red jumpsuit with baggy pants, a white belt, and brown shoes. He also wears a long purple cape with a white stole over it.

After being brainwashed by Noise, his hair lengthens and he wears a black mask over the right side of his face, with his eye exposed. He wears a tight-fitting fuchsia tank top and dark red pants with brown shoes. His cape becomes dark purple and now resembles feathers. Dark gray armor is also wrapped around various parts of his body, including his wrists, legs, abdomen, and feet.

After becoming good, he wears a white ruffled shirt and a red vest over it with matching pants. He has a short white cape with a jabot and a red brooch on top. He also has a thin brown belt with a sword scabbard on his left hip.

Personality

Falsetto, as his name indicates, is in charge of the upper voice range of the trio, and his singing is often out of tune. Initially, he uses boku (ボク)? and polite language. He has a modest personality and tries to stay out of conflict between his other two team members, willingly letting Bassdrum be the leader, having no ambition of his own. When Siren was still part of the team, she often sat on his head and let out her frustrations by clawing at his hair.

After being brainwashed by Noise, he takes over as Trio the Minor's leader by force, treating Baritone and Bassdrum as his servants. His first person changes to ore (おれ)? and he forces the other two to call him "-sama". He is shown to be competent and efficient, and his singing ability improved. His goals revolve entirely around serving Noise and fulfilling his goals, to the point that he annoyed Noise into absorbing him.

In the finale, the brainwashing was undone, and Falsetto returned to his gentler personality.

Relationships

  • Trio the Minor: They argue many times while still spending time together as a trio, and quartet when Siren was still their leader (going cherry blossom viewing, to a café, to the beach, etc)
  • Bassdrum: He sometimes criticizes Bassdrum for his oversights or plans. Falsetto, in his mild personality, left the leader role to Bassdrum even though they agreed to switch it up.SPC28 Falsetto plays with him in the water during their beach trip.SPC26 After brainwashed Falsetto forcibly takes the leader role, Bassdrum becomes fed up with his demands and for forcibly transforming him. He still sees him as a friend and even cries for him when Falsetto was presumed dead.SPC46
  • Baritone: Falsetto often acts and sings together with Baritone when Bassdrum was the leader of the trio. While annoyed with brainwashed Falsetto's attitude and demands, he was impressed by his competence, still valued him as a friend and cried when he thought that Falsetto died.SPC46

Falsetto, along with the rest of the trio were once the three musketeers that protected Major Land in the past, until they were controlled by Noise. Upon failing he witnessed Hibiki and Kanade's transformation into Cure Melody and Rhythm, respectively. He started to taunt and tease at their failure to defeat the Negatone because their Harmony Power was out of sync. It wasn't until episode ten where he got a major plot. After being saved by Ouji, Siren began to understand human emotions. Bassdrum became aware of this and reported this to Mephisto so as to discredit Siren and become the leader of the Trio the Minor in episode 11, which he succeeded in.

After Mephisto is healed from hypnosis, Falsetto is brainwashed by Noise to become his loyal servant.SPC36

Later, Falsetto upgrades Bassdrum and Baritone, transforming them into monsters, and breaks Noise from his captivity left by Shirabe Otokichi.SPC37

Despite being tired, Falsetto, Bassdrum, and Baritone still plot to attack the Cures. Falsetto suddenly appears at Ako and Souta's school and tells them to leave. Souta tries to protect Ako but is knocked aside as Falsetto steals her music box and summons a Negatone. Ako transforms into Cure Muse, fighting back and using her abilities to make the Negatone feel bad. Falsetto tries to distract her by showing Souta, but she stands firm, declaring her desire to help her friends and family. As Muse embraces her bond with them, Falsetto threatens Souta further. However, Cure Melody, Rhythm, and Beat arrive to help Muse to save Souta and defeat Falsetto's Negatone.SPC38
