Pop Girls

Pop Girls was a five-member Filipino girl group under Viva Records.[1] They debuted with their first studio album "Pop Girls" on December 13, 2009.

The group was officially disbanded on April 12, 2017.

Career

2009 : Official debut, Twins departure, Hiatus

In 2009, Viva Entertainment announced that they would have a new girl group, they said the group was inspired by American and British girl groups.

On December 13, 2009, Introducing the original members of the group Rose, Shy, Nadine and the Filipino-Lebanese twins Jaliah and Mariam Baustria, they also released their first debut studio album "Pop Girls" which contained 13 tracks. They debuted and performed their first song Crazy, Crazy at Party Pilipinas on GMA.[2]

In 2010, twins Jaliah and Mariam first left the group. Viva Entertainment also announced that the group will not be able to release a new song or album and the group has been on hiatus for several months.

2010 - 2013 : Stage comeback, New members, Shy and Nadine Departure

In 2010, introducing new members Joanna Morales and Anja Aguilar, the group performed again on stage with Joanna and Anja. Viva Records has already announced that Pop Girls will have a new endorsement and schedule next year.

In 2011, Anja Aguilar was the second member to leave the group.

In 2011, Shy was the third to leave the group and said she would focus on her acting career and her solo career. After Shy left the group, Nadine left and also said that she will focus on her acting career and solo career.

2013 - 2014 : Jumpstart, New members, Joanna Departure

In 2013, Viva Entertainment announced that the group would have a new member again after Anja, Nadine and Shy left the group. They introduced Aubrey and Carlyn in 2014 as new members.

On September 11, 2013, the group released a new album “Jumpstart” and promoted as four members and continued their promotion until 2014.

In 2014, it was announced that Joanna would no longer be in the group’s promotion and it was announced that she was no longer in the group.

2017 : New members, Bad Boy, Prinsesa, Disbandment

In 2017, new members Jean and Andrea were introduced.

On February 10, 2017 the group released their first digital single Bad Boy, their new single is an EDM, Pop and dance-pop single. They returned to the stage as five members and performed the song Bad Boy at the mall and on TV shows.

In March 2017, Viva announced that the group would once again have a new song and schedule.

On April 12, 2017 the group released a farewell digital single “Prinsesa”, and confirmed that the group would be disbanded and no longer to promote their group and their new single.

  • Anja Aguilar was reviving of Willie Revillame's "I Love You" as the Theme Song of TV version of 1981 film P.S. I Love You.
  • Former Pop Girls members Rose van Ginkel, Nadine Lustre and Shy Carlos in the present they're an actress under Viva Agency too.
  • Carlyn Ocampo was a member of Z-Girls.
  • Nadine Lustre was pairing with James Reid on 2014 before their breakup in 2020.
