"Dash" (stylized in all-caps) is the first pre-debut digital single by HORI7ON. It was released on March 22, 2023.
Background
"Dash" is one of two songs chosen by Dream Maker contestants to perform their fourth and final "mission" in the competition, the other being "Deja Vu", written by Seo Won-jin.[1] The song was first sung at the end of the competition, performed by contestants Jay-R Albino, Jeromy Batac, Kim Ng, Kyler Chua, Matt Cruz, Prince Enclean, Wilson Budoy, and Winston Pineda.[2]
On March 10, the group revealed that the song 'DASH' will be released as the group's first pre-debut single. On the same day, its MV teaser was released.[3]
On March 17, the group released a release scheduler photo for their first pre-debut single, 'DASH'.[4] From March 17 to 18, the group released the member's solo photo teasers.[5][6] The following day, the group's concept photo was officially released.[7] On March 21, the group revealed DASH's album cover.[8]
On March 22, the group officially released the single on various music streaming services alongside the release of its music video.[9]
Composition
The song, written by Bull$eye, has been described as a hip-hop dance song.[10][11] The song is composed in the key of A major, and has a typical tempo of 165 beats per minute.[12]
Music video
The music video goes through several sets—an abandoned building, an aircraft boneyard, an airport runway, a helipad, and an area with shipping containers.[13]
Promotion
The single was first performed on February 15, 2023 on It's Showtime by seven contestants who were selected and won an idol survival show, Dream Maker.[14]
