Roughneck is a type of Trainer Class. They are young, bald men who appear to be thugs. They are called Cue Balls in Generation I and III and are similar to Bikers. Some Roughnecks and Bikers come together to form a tag-battling pair known as the Hooligans.

Trivia
- In Generation III, they are shown to be riding motorcycles.
- In the Japanese version, Roughnecks were called Skinheads. This was changed in international releases due to the term being commonly associated with neo-Nazis and white supremacists.
