Disguise

Disguise (Japanese: ばけのかわ, Hepburn: Bake no Kawa) is an Ability exclusive to Mimikyu, introduced in Generation VII.

Description

Effect

If a Mimikyu in Disguised Form is hit by a damaging move or hits itself in Confusion]], all damage it would take is nullified and it instead loses 1/8 of its maximum HP, rounded down. Following this, the Mimikyu will turn into its Busted Form for the rest of the battle, unless it is revived. If the Mimikyu has a Substitute, the substitute will be prioritized over Disguise when attacked.

Disguise does not fully protect the Mimikyu from multi-hit moves such as Bullet Seed; Disguise will active on the first hit, but subsequent hits will be calculated normally. Damage from entry hazards or weather bypass Disguise completely. Additionally, Disguise does not protect the Mimikyu from secondary effects from moves (e.g. the Special Attack drop from Mystical Fire).

Disguise also prevents the activation of the held item Weakness Policy due to bypassing type matchup checks, and if the Mimikyu is holding an Air Balloon it will still be popped, even if Disguise nullifies damage.

Gastro Acid, Simple Beam, and Worry Seed will fail if used on Mimikyu. Doodle, Entrainment, Role Play, and Skill Swap fail of either of the Pokémon is a Mimikyu. Power of Alchemy, Receiver, and Trace cannot copy Disguise. Disguise is unaffected by Core Enforcer, Lingering Aroma, Mummy, Neutralizing Gas, or Wandering Spirit. If a Pokémon gains Disguise via transformation, it will never activate. Additionally, if a Mimikyu receives the ability suppression effect from a move like Gastro Acid via Baton Pass, Disguise will still be active regardless. However, Disguise can be bypassed with the abilities Mold Breaker, Teravolt, or Turboblaze, or by using the moves Moongeist Beam, Sunsteel Strike, or Photon Geyser.
