Io

Io is the main setting of POD.

It is one of Jupiter's sixteen satellites. Capital: New Columbus. Its mining and alteration industries became the essential link in the Solar System's economy. The map below mainly shows the colonized parts of Io, with Burrow and Cocoon included for completness' sake.

New Columbus

New Columbus is the economic center of Io. This is where most of the city-related tracks take place in.

Gaia Mountains

The Gaia Mountains are a mountain chain on Io. This is where the mountainous tracks that place in. It has only two crossings: At Canyon and at Pompeii.

Industrial Zones

The areas which consists of mines, plants and anything industrialized. IMC (Io Mining Company), formed by five of the original colonists, grew rapidly into a huge company, that totally dominated the mining operations on Io. It was at Shaft 14 of the vast Plant 21 complex that the POD virus was first exposed.

Red Rock Desert

The Red Rock Desert is an isolated area located very far from civilization, its soil is red like the name implies.

Security Forces Base

This is where the Police, Army and Special Forces make their base. The final spaceship out of Io is located on the region.

Wilderness

There exists places in Io which are not inhabited by humans, but are touring spots organized by Io Tours, a company that specialized in tours of the parts of Io that had not yet been colonized, something that proved both profitable and controversial, with many scientific and wildlife organisations calling for certain areas to be declared off-limits. This did not stop the company from becoming a huge success.
