Voice Cast

Production

On September 9, 2022, during the 2022 D23 Expo Presentation, Pixar announced a new original film titled Elio, with Adrian Molina directing and Mary Alice Drumm producing. It marks Molina as the sole directional debut of the film. That same day, America Ferrera and Yonas Kibreab were announced to have been cast in the leading voice roles of Olga Solis and Elio, respectively.

In October 2023, Disney announced it was delaying the release of Elio from March 1, 2024 to June 13, 2025, due to the 2023 actors strike.[1]

On August 9, 2024, at D23 it was announced that Domee Shi and Madeline Sharafian were joining Adrian Molina as co-directors.[7] It was also announced that America Ferrera was no longer attached to the film as the voice of Elio's mom, and that Zoë Saldaña was joining the cast as Aunt Olga.[8]

On February 14, 2025, Disney pushed the release date back to June 20, 2025, to avoid competition with Dreamworks' live-action remake of How To Train Your Dragon.[9]
