This article is about the group of wenches auctioned as brides. You may be looking for the singular term "wench". |

The Wenches were a group of women from Isla Tesoro who were captured and sold by an invading pirate. Each of the women captured reacted differently to their prospective purchasers.
Two of the younger women seemed keen on the pirates, looking at them excitedly, whereas the blonde captive began to sob at the prospect of being sold to a pirate. She was consoled by an older captive who was remarkably less troubled. The "Redhead" seemed to enjoy the attention and became extremely flirtatious, suggesting that she already had experience with such things.
Tiny, an overweight woman being sold by the Auctioneer, was similarly inviting toward the pirates, though they were less interested in her (one of the pirates remarking "Hey, are you selling her by the pound?!").

Behind the scenes
Wenches first appeared in Walt Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean,[1] which included the original attraction at Disneyland, the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World, and Disneyland Paris.[2] The scene of the wenches being auctioned as brides would later be adapted into the short film Tales of the Code: Wedlocked.[3]
During the 2017-2018 refurbishments, the Auction scene was removed from the ride in Disneyland, Magic Kingdom and Disneyland Paris, and replaced with an updated storyline of a scene with pirates buying the stolen loot from Captain Redd.[4]
In Jeff Nathanson's 2013 early screenplay draft of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the Auctioneer leads a wench auction in Coronation Bay, eventually selling the imprisoned Carina Smyth to a vicious looking pirate who offered twenty pieces of eight against Jack Sparrow's ten.[5]
