Biography
Early life and career
- "I'm not scared of anything, Miss. They call me "Lucky" Maddox, because not a single man has died since I've come aboard."
- ―Henry Maddox to Olivia Cole
Not much is known about Henry's early life except that he was probably born and raised on a farm in England. When he grew up, he joined the Royal Navy, eventually serving aboard the HMS Monarch as the Captain's servant.
Behind the scenes
Henry Maddox appeared only in one of the earlier versions of Jeff Nathanson's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales script.[2] The script was later rewritten and the character was merged with "Young Will Turner" from Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End who was retconned as Henry Turner. In the final version of the script, one officer aboard the Monarch was named "Maddox".
During his reuniting with Olivia Henry tells her "It’s okay. We'll be together now." Historically, the word okay was coined in 1839, nearly a century after the events of the story.

Notes and references
- ↑ Henry was 19 years old in the script. Since the story is set at the beginning of the Seven Years' War, and the war started in 1756, it is assumable Henry was born in 1737.
