Jack Sparrow and Grimes[src]

A bottle was a narrow-necked container made of an impermeable material (such as glass) in various shapes and sizes that stores and transports liquids. Wide-based bottles were called onion bottles because of their shape.

Mastering marksmanship, Jack Sparrow trained himself to shoot by taking aim at empty wine bottles tossed from the Pearl's deck rail. A bucket of shot and a sack of gunpowder later, he could hit nine out of ten bottles.[1] Bottles were sometimes used as makeshift weapons in a fight, such as when John Brown knocked Jack Sparrow unconscious at the blacksmith shop in Port Royal,[2] and when Elizabeth Swann did the same to James Norrington in Tortuga.[3]
