Red Pikmin (Pikminidae rubrus) are one of the most common Pikmin varieties, and they appear in every game of the Pikmin series. Red Pikmin are always encountered on the first day, and are nearly always the first type encountered. Red Pikmin first appear in Pikmin game, along with Blue Pikmin and Yellow Pikmin. They are immune to fire and are useful for combat. To increase the number of them, a Captain can order corpses or Pellets to be carried to the Red Onion, or other colors of Pikmin can be thrown into a Crimson Candypop Bud.

- In the Pikmin beta, Red Pikmin, along with all other types of Pikmin at the time, were able to carry Bomb Rocks.
- In Pikmin 2 if you have 20 of each type of Pikmin with you their individual squeaking noises combine into a coherent and recognizable Ai No Uta.
