Flarlics are upgrades to the Onion that allows the number of Pikmin to increase by 10 in the party when absorbed. It first appears in Pikmin 4.

In Pikmin 4, the maximum number of Pikmin naturally stops at 20 instead of 100 like in the previous three games. However, this limit only applies to the surface and not in caves (Where it's 100 nonetheless). The first Flarlic was discovered in the Last-Frost Cavern. It is blocked off by 3 pots. When it was brought back to the surface, it was absorbed by the Onion.

If a Flarlic is absorbed while the maximum amount of Pikmin on the ground is 100, the Flarlic is turned into Nectar and Ultra-Spicy Spray.

“While it doesn't sprout or create Pikmin, this specimen is still a type of Onion. A bulb like this one can be divided into seven segments, is highly nutrient dense, and contains strong energizing and analeptic effects. The compounds responsible for its characteristic smell resemble Onion growth hormones. When absorbed by an Onion, it fulfills a critical role in Pikmin proliferation by increasing the total number of Pikmin that can be withdrawn from the Onion at any given time. Just like Onions, it contains muscle fibers, but Flarlic has no animalistic qualities to speak of. However, if you place one near an Onion, it may start to move a bit, as though it’s trying to roll over so it can be absorbed.”

Olimar's Voyage Log

When an Onion absorbs this whitish bulb, it seems to perk up and increases the Pikmin you can lead by 10. The scent reminds me to the garlic on my planet. I'm tempted to have a nibble, but for now I'll just call it "Flarlic" and leave the taste test for another day.

Trivia

Two Flarlic appear in every area, one above ground and one in a cave.
- One Flarlic can be found in the Last-Frost Cavern, a cave which is in the Sun-Speckled Terrace. It can be found behind some pots that Oatchi's Rush can break.
- One can be found on a ledge, at the top of the map, near the sublevel: Crackling Cauldron.
- One can be found in the Secluded Courtyard, which is in the Blossoming Arcadia.
- One can be found in a wooden box near one of the bases.
The number of Flarlic's available in Olimar's Shipwreck Tale is cut down so there are only enough to get to 100 Pikmin out at once.
