Explosions are a lethal hazard to all Pikmin and most enemies. Explosions appear in every game of the Pikmin series, and first appear in Pikmin.
Explosions most commonly occur from the detonation of Bomb Rocks. In Pikmin and Pikmin 3, explosions only occur if a Bomb Rock explodes. Any Pikmin caught within range of an explosion dies instantly, though Bulbmin have been known to survive them if they are still under the leadership of their parent.
In Pikmin 2, the Volatile Dweevil carries an active Bomb Rock on its back as it chases Pikmin around. The Bomb Rock explodes shortly after the Volatile Dweevil becomes agitated. Bomb Rocks can also explode from being picked up and thrown by Careening Dirigibugs.
