Heal (Japanese: ヒール) is a magic spell that is exclusive to the original Phantasy Star and its remake Phantasy Star Generation 1.
General Data
The heal family of spells are supportive, hit point-restorative abilities. Heal is the basic entry that recovers a very small amount of HP to a single ally. Its usefulness to the party varies depending on the party's level. Lower level members naturally have lower HP pools, and thus, a heal spell is just enough to restore health in or out of combat without having to spend money buying a burger or cola at the shop. As the levels increase and party members become stronger, they gain access to the more powerful entries in the health restoring series.
Doheal is the advanced form of heal that is capable of recovering a great deal of health, averaging around 80 HP. This makes it superior to heal but it does not guarantee a full heal. The most advanced single target heal in this series is Giheal, which is capable of recovering a single ally's health to full. Although MP intensive in terms of cost, Raheal provides a stronger heal than doheal and recovers the health of all party members by around 100 HP in a single cast.
Phantasy Star series
Phantasy Star
Heal is a magic spell that heals the caster or an ally for 20 HP. Alis Landale is the only character in the game that can cast this spell; she learns it upon reaching level 4. Heal has a cost of 2 MP per cast and can be used either in battle or in the open world.
Phantasy Star: Generation 1
In the PlayStation 2 Japanese exclusive remake of Phantasy Star, heal costs 4 MP per cast. Alis begins the game with the spell already known at level 1. It generally recovers around 20 HP to a single ally.
