Coco Moon is the seventh studio album by American electronic music project Owl City, released on March 24, 2023.[1] The deluxe edition was released just under a year later, on March 22, 2024.

Background

Coco Moon was first teased in 2022, using an alternate reality game format on Instagram,[2] with more teasers released in October of that year.[3] The official album name and release date was announced on February 9th, 2023,[4] with Young stating that the overall album would be a "very Owl City album [...] I wrote me. Average, ordinary, weird me."[5]

Singles

The album featured three singles, with its lead single "Kelly Time" being released on January 6th, 2023.[6] Its second single, "Adam, Check Please", was released on February 3rd, 2023.[7] The third and final single, "Vitamin Sea", was released on March 3rd, 2023, with its music video premiering ten days later.[8][9]
The deluxe edition of the album released two new singles: "Boston" on February 9, 2024 and "Car Trouble" on March 1, 2024.

Critical Reception

Coco Moon was met with positive reviews, getting a 3.5/5 star rating from AllMusic,[10] a 4.5/5 star rating from Jesus Freak Hideout,[11] and a "good" rating from Music Review World.[12] The review from Music Review World specifically referenced Young's vocal performance on "The Tornado", calling it one of his "best tracks."[13]
Commercially, Coco Moon peaked at No. 43 on the UK Album Downloads chart[14] and No. 94 on the US Top Current Album Sales chart.[15]
