Jester is a Minion and servant of the Overlord in Overlord, Overlord: Raising Hell, and Overlord: Dark Legend.
History
Dark Legend
After the First Overlord destroyed Jinks, the halfling jester who attacked Castle Gromgard, a feisty and rather idiotic Brown Minion took the halfling's cap and proclaimed himself the Overlord's new Jester.
Overlord
During the Dark Crusade of the Third Overlord, the minion Jester proves to be a lot ruder and less loyal of a servant to the Third Overlord, openly taunting and mocking his master during the Tutorial sequence, for which Gnarl obliges to use him as target practice to help the Overlord learn to wield his control over his Minions.
Throughout the Overlord's adventures, Jester merrily sings off the many titles related to his master's feats, some fitting, some mocking.
After the return of the Old Overlord to usurp his successor, Jester capitulates immediately, saying he always believed that the new Overlord was not worthy enough to be an evil being. After the Old Overlord's death, Jester escapes and is shown secretly performing a ritual in the Dark Tower's Crypt for unknown reasons; fans have speculated that he either opened a gateway into the Infernal Abyss and summoned the Forgotten God to kickstart the events of Raising Hell, or he managed to revive the soul of the Old Overlord and allowed himself to be possessed.
Raising Hell
He makes a brief appearance in Raising Hell. After the Forgotten God is defeated in the Infernal Abyss, the Jester is then seen leaving the Infernal Abyss and tauntingly salutes before the Gate is destroyed, stranding the Third Overlord in the Abyss.
Final fate
Since he does not appear with the other Minions when they mourn their lost Overlord, and Quaver appears as the jester of the Fourth Overlord years later in Overlord II, his fate is currently unknown, but largely presumed dead, either finally killed by the Minions for his betrayal or a casualty of the Great Cataclysm that devastated the former Tower Lands and created the Wastelands.
Personality and Traits
At first, Jester was a fun-loving Brown, who could talk better than the other minions in a halfling voice and loved his role of playing a jester to the Overlords. But after years of abuse, he was driven to madness — ironically, just like his predecessor, Jinks.
Of the Overlords he's served, he seems to place his loyalty primarily with the Second Overlord.
Equipment
Jester's signature jester hat previously belonged to the crazed halfling jester Jinks, whom he took it from after his death to Lord Gromgard. He did not use the same jester bell wand and instead had one made out of a skull.
It should be noted that Jinks' jester hat seemed to have a dark glow in Overlord: Dark Legend, hinting that it may have been cursed, causing the jesters who wear it to betray their master.
