Gnome

Gnomes are one of the races found in the world of the Overlord series.

Characteristics

Tiny humanoid creatures with very large (for their size) noses and big pointed hats. They like to pick up items such as Lifeforce or equipment and carry them off into their burrows.

In Overlord II, there are four types of gnomes, which differ in the color of their hats, lifeforce they drop, and special abilities. While brown hats lack any specialties, red gnomes will perform suicide attacks on the Overlord (they neither attack minions nor the Overlord when he possesses a minion's body), green gnomes can climb trees, and blue gnomes can swim.

Upon killing the 1000th gnome, that one will drop the Gnome Champion hat and the Gnome Grinder achievement will be earned.

History

Little is known about the origins of the Gnome race, but Gnarl displays a comical dislike for them, considering them pests (though he does show an understanding of their high-pitched, squeaky language). Sometime after the Great Cataclysm, they were invited to make burrows in the various Sanctuaries protected by the elves led by Fay.

The Fourth Overlord incurred the "wrath" of the Gnome race after he took back the Evil Presence spell stone after some Gnomes made off with it from the Nordberg Sanctuary. When one of them attempted to physically attack the Overlord, he easily stomped it flat and began a mission to kill hundreds of them in retaliation.

Battle Rock

Sometime after the Fourth Overlord took the throne of the Netherworld, a large pack of Gnomes invaded the Netherworld and settled on the Battle Rock, where they faced the Demon Lord in "combat".

Round 1

The first round only has a few gnomes, although fire gnomes will come from the corners of the arena. Attack them with your minions.

Round 2

The second round will basically only have a few more gnomes. Attack them with your minions.

Harvest Round

The harvest round does not seem to consist of many gnomes, but do not be fooled, more and more will pour out of the gates. The fire gnomes will be disposed of quickly if you sweep your minions over them.

Notes

  • Typically when killed, Gnomes yield not only Lifeforce, but sometimes also the rare Fairy Gems.
    • A strategy for farming this involves visiting the Everlight Facility; waves of six every 13 seconds (they will only spawn infinitely on revisits after you first clear Empire Facility). They are also found inside crates in the Empire Sewers. Many Fire Gnomes can be found in the Wasteland Sanctuary Depths and the Empire Arena. Performing circular strikes with the Smooth Slicer is an effective multi-kill move, especially against Fire Gnomes
