Dr. Hasdi is a Jewish physician and the grandfather of Rebekah bat-Leah Hauberger.
Personal History
Dr. Hasdi is a devote Jew and raised his daughter to be such as well. He was disappointed when she rejected her heritage and religion to marry Hauberger, a Christian. After the deaths of his daughter and son-in-law he took his his 14 year old granddaughter Rebekah bat-Leah Hauberger. She had already been betrothed to Pierre d'Anton, a French nobleman who Hasdi disapproved of as he was Christian. While living with Hasdi Rebekah had embraced her Jewish heritage. Pierre vowed that he would convert to Judaism so he could still marry Rebekah, but Hasdi did not believe that Pierre would be prepared to give up his title and property which would happen if he became a Jew. He feared that Pierre would revert to being Christian and Rebekah with him once they were married.
