In an alternate timeline, the Resistance was a loosely organized group of people that fought against the Kaylon after the fall of the Planetary Union in February 2421. The Resistance formed cells which secretly operated from bases on planets.
While the Kaylon could destroy Resistance bases from space, they preferred to attack by land to interrogate captives.
History

After the Kaylon won the Battle of Earth in February 2421, the Kaylon continued their campaign to wipe out all biological life. Survivors of the now-extinct Union eked an existence on the fringes of the galaxy, avoiding the Kaylon by scavenging or establishing small bands of resistance fighters.
Soon after the Battle of Earth, the groups of fighters had banded together as the Resistance, led by former Union officers like Alara Kitan, once the Chief of Security of the USS Orville.
In the months that followed, the Kaylon destroyed most of the Resistance and only "a handful of cells" remained.[1] The last fighters laid low to trick the Kaylon into thinking the Resistance was gone. Even Gordon Malloy thought the Resistance had been destroyed.
In October 2421, the Kaylon attacked and destroyed Alara's Resistance base in the Battle of the Resistance.
