Marcos was a Human Captain of the USS Roosevelt, a Science-class vessel of the Union Fleet, until his death in 2420 by the Kaylon.
His death is considered part of the prelude to the Battle of Earth of 2420.
History
Around the end of the 24th century, Marcos was a flight instructor at Union Point where he knew Ed Mercer as a student.[1]
By 2420, Marcos commands of the USS Roosevelt as captain.[1]
Death
In late 2420, the Roosevelt detects the USS Orville in Planetary Union space leading a Kaylon armada. The Roosevelt intercepts, and Mercer says the fleet is really an ambassadorial delegation. Mercer, however, ends the communication with an offer of a "13-button salute", a Union code phrase under Directive 98 that indicates that a hostile force has seized control of the ship and that Planetary Union Central must be notified. Marcos knowingly wishes Mercer well and orders the Roosevelt to return to Earth.[1]
Kaylon Primary, however, is well aware of the 13 button salute and orders Spheres 29 and 31 to destroy the Roosevelt. Marcos dies in the ensuing attack.[1]
