Howard Griffith is a co-executive producer and unit production manager on The Orville. Griffith appears in Digressions, Pt. 1 and Pt. 2 as Captain Griffith.[1]
Background
According to his personal website, Howard Griffith started in the entertainment industry in 1972 as a driver. He was promoted to transportation captain, then production supervisor, then unit production manager, and finally executive producer.[2]
Griffith worked as a television producer from the 1990s until The Orville, including on the now-cancelled series Gang Related, which was shot in the same studio two years before. His earliest credited job is on the 1996 made-for-television movie The Road to Galveston as a supervising producer.
The Orville
Howard Griffith was hired as a production manager for The Orville's first season. One of his chief tasks is to find and approve filming locations. "Finding locations in [Los Angeles, California] for a 25th-century show has been a rewarding challenge," Griffith has noted.[3]
