Biography 1
Compared to my brothers and sisters, there's no doubt I'm the odd one out.
They all regard mortals as objects, nothing more.
They would drag mortal women who were doing laundry by the river into the water, to be their brides. And in the eyes of my brothers, that's perfectly acceptable. They see nothing wrong with it.
But is it really the right thing to do? The brides were so scared. The tears they shed made the river water bitter. The elders said that stealing them was the humans' punishment for destroying the river, for destroying our homes.

But I didn’t think that was right. I had to find the answer myself.
So I hid in the water near the shore, covering myself with water lily leaves, and observed the humans.
